New Delhi: In a historic milestone for India’s education and innovation ecosystem, over 3 lakh schools from across India participated in the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, India’s largest synchronized innovation challenge for school students.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the live event, showcasing creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving at an unprecedented scale.

Speaking at the inauguration in New Delhi, Pradhan interacted with students from PM SHRI Government High School, Khorda, Odisha, and commended the enthusiasm and participation of over 3 lakh schools nationwide.

He stated that Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 represents a key step toward realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit and Samriddh Bharat” by 2047. “A developed and prosperous India will be built on the shoulders of our talented school students,” he said.

The Education Minister highlighted that the innovative ideas and prototypes emerging from the Buildathon would contribute to solving real-world challenges, fostering an environment of creativity, curiosity, and entrepreneurship among young learners.

Atal Innovation Mission and Ministry of Education Drive Nationwide Collaboration

Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, praised the initiative’s scale and impact, noting that such programs strengthen learning outcomes and foster a culture of innovation among students.

Mission Director of Atal Innovation Mission, Deepak Bagla, emphasized that Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 would make innovation a mass movement, connecting students from rural villages to those in major urban centres.

Innovation, Collaboration, and the Spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat

As part of the event, Pradhan visited Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, and PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 in Delhi Cantt., where he interacted with students and teachers.

He observed several innovative student projects and encouraged students to remain inquisitive and contribute to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat through creativity and innovation.

Following the inauguration, a two-hour live innovation challenge engaged over 1 crore students from Classes 6 to 12. Participants worked in small teams to conceptualize and build prototypes aligned with four national themes – Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local, and Samriddhi.

A special feature of Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 was the inclusion of “School Spotlights,” connecting more than 150 schools from aspirational districts, remote regions, hilly states, and border areas to share their innovation journeys and project progress live.
